How To Prep and Prime the Skin for Makeup Application

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! :)

A good skin preparation is essential for the rest of the makeup to look flawless. If I do not take a few extra steps to prep my skin before applying the foundation, my dry patches will be accentuated even more and the oily areas in my T-zone will look even more greasy. Therefore I decided to share with you my essential products to prep and prime my skin.

To start off with, I use the Frank Body Coffee Scrub around the areas that I tend to have a few dry patches, such as my nose and in my smile lines. This coffee scrub is my holy grail to remove any dead skin. This is the only scrub that I use because it leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated than any other scrub I have tried. I will also use the Frank Body Lip scrub to make my lips softer and to moisturize my lips I will use the lip balm that comes with it.

Next up I would go in with a facemask. Keep in mind I do not apply face masks on a daily basis. However on days when I want my skin to look at its best I always put this in my skincare regimen. I gave two options for those who are oily and for those who are slightly on the drier side just like me.
For those who need a little extra glow to the skin and more hydration, the Frank Body Glow Mask and the Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating treatment are two of my all-time favourites face masks! The Glamglow is more high-end, meaning that the price is quite high, but it is worth every penny. However if I am completely honest with you, the Frank Body Glow Mask is just as good and it is much cheaper!

For those who are combination to oily the Shiseido Purifying Mask and the Dead Sea spa Magik Mud Mask are great! I like using these on days when my pores are clogged, as they suck out all of the dirt from my skin. I have to make sure that I moisturize very well after using these, considering my skin type. The Shiseido Purifying Mask was recommended to me at the Melita Health and Beauty Clinic, and I praise the sales girl for suggesting it! I love this face mask as it leaves your skin feeling smooth and even slightly reduces the size of my pores. The Dead Sea spa Magik Mud Mask is a cheaper alternative, which is also good. However it does dry out my skin even more than the Shiseido Purifying Mask, so this is perfect for those who have very oily skin!

Next up I will moisturize, by using the Loreal Extraordinary Facial Oil. To those who have oily skin, skip this as it will only make you look greasy, but if you are like me this was a life saviour during the cold winter days! The makeup applies beautifully on top, giving me that glow from within look!

Then I will apply either the Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser or the Shiseido Ibuki Protective Moisturizer. I know I have spoken about the Body Shop moisturizer so many times on my blog, but I absolutely love this product! The Shiseido Ibuki Protective Moisturizer is a sample which was kindly given to me from the Melita Health and Beauty and I have used it quite a few times and I love the glow that it give to the skin. Another reason why I love this moisturizer is because the foundation glides on top of it beautifully without making it look blotchy or streaky.

Last but not least I will apply the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in the areas where I have slightly larger pores and where I get oily throughout the day, such as around my nose, in the middle of the forehead and on my chin.
