2017 Favorites and Hate its

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog!

For the last blog post of the year I decided to share my ultimate favorite products of the year and those products which I am really not a fan of.
As some of you may know, I am from Gozo and I am still studying at University, so I have to travel every week back and fourth. All my favorites mentioned below never left my makeup bag; they became essentials that I cannot leave behind neither in Gozo nor in Malta.

The RCMA Series Favorites Palette “KO” is a foundation which I did not quite like at first. However the more I used it, I realized that this product is not meant for building up. With just one layer, it gives a medium coverage while having dewy, natural skin. I use the first two shades as a foundation and the last two shades to slightly bronze my skin.

My two holy grail concealers are the Tarte Shape Tape, for underneath the eyes and to highlight any areas of my face, and the Catrice Camouflage Cream to cover up any blemishes or redness.

Then I would lightly set everything with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder. If you have dry skin this powder has to be in your makeup bag! It sets the foundation beautifully without emphasizing any dry patches while keeping any oils in the T-zone area away.

You guys know that the Benefit Hoola Bronzer was going to make it to my favourites pile. This just has the perfect undertone to bronze the face and it blends so easily! Then to give a little pop of colour on the cheek The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in the shade “Mood Exposure” is by far the most flawless blush I have used.

Becca’s Highlighters are stunning, particularly Champagne Pop. This highlight matches almost if not all, the makeup looks I create. You can use it as a subtle highlight or even build it up to a blinding highlight.
The Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara has also been a staple in my collection. It lengthens and volumizes the lashes without looking clumpy.

As for Lips, you are probably wondering how come Mac Velvet Teddy is not there! I still love that one, however the Marc Jacobs Role Play Sheer Gel Lipstick has slightly taken over. It is a shade slightly darker than my natural lip colour, making it the perfect everyday lipstick. Then on top I have been obsessed with the Make-up Studio Lip Gloss in the shade Devine Brown. I think it might be my perfect nude lipgloss!

Lastly the Jaclyn Hill X Morphe is the palette of the year. It has almost every shade I want in just one palette and they are creamy and easy to blend. For Eyebrows the BH Cosmetics Ultimate Brow Palette is my go to as it has both powders and pomades in it.

The next pile includes products that I genuinely had high hopes that they would work, however after several times of trying them out with different techniques and products they were still disappointing. This is my opinion, so what might not work for me might be your favorite product. If you happen to love any of these products, let me know how I can use them to make them work!

You are probably shocked by the Tarte Clay Stick Foundation. I have tried this foundation so many times, with different moisturizers and powders, yet the same problem always happens. It emphasizes every little dry patch and it creases into my smile lines after an hour wear. Another downside of this product is that even though I powder my skin it still feels sticky and heavy ending up clogging my pores.

Another disappointing product is the Make-up Studio concealer. This was recommended to me by the sales girl to use it underneath the eyes. After having this on for an hour or even less, I looked 5 years older as it creased into the wrinkles so badly. I also tried using it on my lid as an eyeshadow primer, however it started rubbing off as I blended the eyeshadows. So this is definitely a pass for me.

I was hoping that I would find another great drugstore highlighting palette as the Sleek Solstice Palette, but the NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating palette comes nowhere near it. These are more like powders rather than highlighters. Nevertheless, I still tried it and ended up with a stripe on my cheek. Some were better than the others but I will still not reach out for this palette.

Lastly is the Body Shop Pomegranate Firming and Refreshing Eye Roll-on. I can’t fully say I hate it as it might work for some of you. For some reason, this burns every time I use this. It might be because I have sensitive skin. Apart from that, I do love the roller and the product itself sinks into the skin quickly.

So that was it, my last blog post for the year 2017! Let me know what your favorite products of the year are in the comments below! I hope that all of you have a Happy New Year filled with love and health.
